Quality Teeth Fillings
If you have a cavity and don’t treat it, the deterioration of your tooth could continue - leading to its eventual complete wasting and irreparable damage down to the root. Fortunately, this can be easily avoided by using fillings: any number of materials shaped to fit your cavity, then cemented there to replace the missing tooth tissue.
Using a filling will help bring your tooth back to its normal look, function and shape. This is done by first removing the damaged and decaying tooth material; then cleaning and sanding the affected area; finally, filling the cavity with the dentist and patient’s choice of filling material.
Once this is done, bacteria is prevented from encroaching on the sensitive under-layers of your teeth. High-impact damage that could cause a tooth with a cavity to chip or break will be less damaging, too, once the filling is in place.
Which Material Should You Use?
In the past, gold was the material of choice for teeth fillings because it didn’t irritate the gums, lasted up to 20 years and repelled bacteria. Today, modern technology allows us to offer tooth-colored teeth that are completely metal free - and have all the good qualities of gold with none of the unwanted garishness. We use porcelain, resin and a number of next-gen materials to replicate the look and feel of your own teeth - so you likely won’t feel the filling once it’s in.
If you would like a long-term option that has all the properties of gold but doesn’t cost as much, we recommend silver fillings. These can be used discretely in teeth further back in your mouth - and, like gold, will be aseptic, gum-friendly and last a very long time.
